So the kind people at the company who host this site emailed this afternoon to say that one of the GreyMatter files is giving them CPU trouble and that I have to update/fix/replace/delete it within five days, or they will.

So, I downloaded the newest version of GM, backed up the archives and .cgi files like the instructions told me to (over 1,000 files altogether), and then proceeded to install the updates.

Of course, when I run the program, the first thing I see is that it has gone and deleted my the layout and entry templates - the two things I did not back up. I have the layout code on my harddrive, of course, but the entry templates came with the original program - which I can't get at anymore. This is wonderful.

And, apparently, version 1.7.2.3 is now stripping all the entries of their paragraphing, so I have to code it in manually again. This is not a huge hassle, except for the fact that it reminds of me the days when I wrote fanfic in HTML code, because it was easier to put the line breaks in as I wrote them, than to go back and insert them in NotePad.

If the blog goes dark for some times, one of the above reasons is probably why (that and the fact that I am ridiculously behind on all my reading and workshopping, and our editor has a virus and cannot edit our film, and I have six assessments due next week. Yay). Which is a pity, really, because I felt like saying something today. Aah, well.

Yeah ... but you were thinking it.

!!!!!!!!YEAH, baby. That is still my favourite game on the planet. And they're finally bringing out a sequel. And I have just found out that my word limit, which I thought was 3,000, is actually 3,500. My day is getting exponentially better.

Must be dreaming again

Saturday 19 May 07 7:54PM

So, believe it or not, I wrote the last post BEFORE I found out that both the Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars will not be coming back for another season. FRACKING CW. Now I'm left with House and 24, both of which are Fox shows (I'm really over Heroes. I'm sorry. I don't care what happens to these characters anymore. 14 episodes of nothing happening can do that to a series) and originate, in some way, shape or form, from Rupert Murdoch. How disturbing.Anyway, apparently I have the power to make television series go away merely by referencing them. I am trying as hard as I can to think of a Smallville reference.Though I suppose this gives me a reason to get Entourage on DVD.In other news ... this is the stupidest most frustrating workshopping comment ever, Y/N?It was interesting to read your story Steph. My preference is for traditional narrative style story telling, as a result I’m unable to appreciate dream like stories such as this. I’m left confused as to what it’s about, and what I should write to critique your story, or if I should be writing dreamlike storeys for my assignment.Sorry I’m not much assistance to you I guess I had a different aim when I chose this unit.Did you get "dream like" from the fact that the fourth word in the whole story is "dreaming", or what? And your preference for "traditional narrative style story telling" (or, for the grammatically inclined, "traditional narrative-style storytelling") means absolutely nothing in a writing workshop, kthnx. What does "narrative style story telling" mean, anyway? How many stories can you think of are told in a non-narrative style? Huh? What? And don't get me started on "different aim".

My life seems to be absorbed by this stupid documentary

Tuesday 15 May 07 6:11PM

The only thing I could possibly hate more than a pre-dawn crew call?Night shoots. Ugh.Should leave now, I suppose.Edited to update on this project that has been sucking up all my time lately:We are done shooting, technically. Except that it looks like there is some issues with the sound. So we may have to reshoot some/all of it. >:(Now, it is in the hands of the editor and the sound guy.In slightly related news, I was rather shameless today and hitched a ride to uni with someone who seems to love Garden State as much as I do. Plus, he thinks Children of Men was brilliant. That's gotta be worth 80 points, at least.* Too bad he is a drama major.* A reference to the Veronica Mars episode in which the frat guys go around giving girls "ratings" (fifty for being blonde, thirty for being sassy, etc.) A reference to the Gilmore Girls episode in which Paris goes speed-dating; the second guy she meets admits he is a drama major, and she immediately calls for the next bell and stands up. Paris Gellar rules.

ScriptFrenzy

20,000 words in a month, huh?Pffft. The screenplay I just handed in for class was 3,500 words (18 pages when it's supposed to be about 10), and I wrote that intermittently over the space of about three days. AND I handed it in early, because I don't go to uni on Fridays.Count me in.If I can write a Veronica Mars movie ;)
